hearing before the U.S. Senate. Deeohn was one of a select

President-elect’s Transition Team helped organize and
coordinated the Team’s December 16, 2008 Environmental
Justice Meeting in Washington, DC with activists and
advocates from around the nation.

SCDG Wins U.S. EPA CARE Program Management Support Grant
Award
SCDG was awarded
a two-year grant by the U.S. EPA CARE Program (Community Action
for A Renewed Environment) to provide logistics and meeting
management support services for national CARE workshops in 2008
and 2009. SCDG's Director of Meetings and Conferences engaged
participants in the 2008 national workshop which was convened in
Chicago in November. Over the next year, we will advise the
program on selecting the 2009 venue, logistics and other
services that will be provided for workshop participants
Enterprise Community Partners Conference
SCDG’s Deeohn Ferris
presented at the 2008 Enterprise Community Conference
“Transforming & Redefining Community Development,” November
19-21, 2008 in Baltimore. Her presentation was a workshop on
innovative redevelopment solutions entitled “Green Community
Development: How CDCs Are Shaping Sustainable Neighborhoods”
The presentation focused on creating shared opportunity at the
nexus of economics, equity, environmental quality, climate
change, transportation, jobs and public health and the role of
the national public policy coalition the Community
Revitalization Alliance.
